Established in 1892, the original church was built three and one half miles outside the town of Junction City on County H & O, and was affiliated with the Swedish Evangelical Free Church of America. Through many decades of changes and challenges, the church acquired a new name: New Hope Community Church.

Early Motherís Day morning in May of 2004, the over 100-year-old church while in the process of being remodeled by volunteers, was struck by lightning and burned to the ground.  Nothing was salvageable.  But God always brings beauty from ashes.  He made it possible to purchase a lot within walking distance of Junction City proper, just four blocks from our public school. Thanks to Godís provision through our insurance policy, we began to build on that lot.  Ten months later, on March 20, Palm Sunday 2005, we moved into a beautiful new facility more than adequate to meet our needs.

Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not
perceive it? I am making a
way in the desert and
streams in the wasteland.
Isaiah 43:18,19
